Want to be the best mom possible? You are not alone.

Meeting November 1st

Hello Monster Mamas!

If you’re not in a sugar coma after trick or treating, you’ll definitely want to be at our meeting Friday, Nov. 2. Our Plunge topic for November is “Beach Blanket Fun,” and what is more fun than sitting in the sun and losing yourself in a great book? Lisa Chipouras, a children’s librarian at Highlands Ranch Library, will speak on what it takes to encourage reading at the early stages of your child’s life. Lisa has a passion for children’s literature and does some of the best story times in the metro area.
Table 1 is in charge of breakfast, and as always MOPPETS will be open for business beginning at 9:15 a.m.
As a service project associated with our program this month, we will be having a book drive to benefit Reach Out and Read Colorado, which helps prepare children for school by getting doctors to “prescribe” books and encourage families to read together. The doctors give books to children at checkups, with a special focus on children growing up in poverty.
Reach Out and Read accepts new and used books. The new books are given during the appointments, while the used books are given to siblings or used at the doctors’ offices to promote reading.
Let’s work together to get a bundle of books together for this organization! (If Lisa recommends a book you think your little ones will enjoy, why not buy two and donate one?) We’ll collect the books during both meetings in November.
Thanks and have a Happy Halloween!
Melissa and Amy

MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers, a faith-based community that strives to meet the needs of moms with children from birth through kindergarten. MOPS groups meet regularly to celebrate the joys of motherhood and to encourage each other through the challenges. MOPS also provides opportunities for social outings throughout the year. We meet the first and third Fridays of every month September through May.
